KNUCKLEBALL!

It may be the toughest pitch for batters to hit, but this weekend the knuckleball is set to be a big hit with theatergoers. Knuckleball!, a new film by acclaimed documentarians Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, will premiere this Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Produced in association with Major League Baseball Productions and utilizing its extensive library of archival baseball footage, Knuckleball! tracks the history of the unpredictable pitch while focusing on two of its best-known and most-recent practitioners, R.A. Dickey and Tim Wakefield.

The film also features interviews with knuckleball legends including Phil Niekro, Charlie Hough and Jim Bouton, who discuss their own histories with the pitch and reflect on the attitude and commitment required to master it.

Saturday’s outdoor screening behind the World Financial Center at 250 Vesey St. is free and open to the public. Prior to the screening, Dickey, Wakefield, Hough and Bouton will all be on hand for a free clinic from 6:30-8:00 on the lawn.
